Mission

To promote soil and water conservation practices that allows sustainable use of natural resources. This will be accomplished through public information and education, technical assistance and recommendations, implementing new technology and supporting natural resource inventories and studies.

Description

Rio Grande Conservation District, a county-wide district in Rio Grande County, was established on May 14,1946. Overall the district has a conservation history of almost 66 years.

Rio Grande-Conservation District encompasses all the land in Rio Grande County except for those areas that had been previously excluded.  Total acreage within the District is 1,241,954 acres.

District

The Rio Grande Conservation District is proud of their achievements. The board of supervisors is composed of a variety of super visors that come from all reaches of the agriculture community. The talent that the board brings ensures sound manage of all natural resources within the district.
Service

The board has a tradition of service, not just to local producers, but to small acre landowners and to various agriculture and education entities throughout Rio Grande County, the San Luis Valley and the State of Colorado.
