Eliza (Lisa) Hillhouse practices out of Denver and represents clients throughout the state.  She joined our firm in 2012.  Lisa began her professional career in Washington, D.C., by serving as a legislative assistant to Senator Marlow W. Cook of Kentucky, dealing primarily with energy-related matters before the Commerce Committee.  She was also a member of the President's Commission on Olympic Sports that provided President Gerald R. Ford with the final results  of the Commission's three-year investigation into the issues facing amateur sports in the United States in the late 1970's.  After law school, Lisa moved to Colorado in 1981 and began practicing natural resources law.  Lisa has represented clients in several states on water rights matters, and in federal forums concerning reserved right and water quality issues. She has experience in water rights title and conveyance matters.  Her practice experience also includes environmental and land use permitting, securing approvals for mining, refining, waste management and real estate projects, resolving oil and gas royalty disputes, negotiating mineral leases and surface use agreements, title work associated with oil and gas and mining operations, environmental compliance and remediation, and related matters concerning oil and gas and mining operations throughout the western states.
